NAMI: Volunteer of the Month-December 2020

NAMI: Volunteer of the Month

Monica R. Jackson

Monica R. Jackson is our December Volunteer of the Month. She has been a NAMI volunteer since 2014 and has been working with NAMI Southern Nevada since October 2019.

Monica has been instrumental in NAMI Southern Nevada’s onboarding of the new NAMI Family & Friends Seminars in which she has co-facilitated three seminars. Through her internship with UNLV Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Monica co-coordinated a series of NAMI SNV presentations among CAPS, the graduate school, and the student organization Active Minds, including a Family & Friends Seminar and a NAMI Ending the Silence Presentation.

Prior to being with NAMI SNV, Monica was a Family-to-Family teacher in the Midwest. She is a doctoral psychology student who plans to be a professional psychologist and advocate. She hopes to continue volunteering with NAMI and to use her Master’s in Divinity with the Doctorate to support mental health initiatives for all.
